In her work Becky van Paassen explores the contrasts and relationships between shape and line, colour and depth, creating trajectories which reference landscapes. Process is fundamental in her work, through process a continuum emerges, a continuum which seeks to discover boundaries and balance within painting.
Each piece is a personal response. Her works are created with spontaneity, relying purely on feeling, thought, movement and memory.
Becky van Paassen studied Fine Art at the Arts University Bournemouth in the United Kingdom, where she predominantly explored art making with fabrics and thread, touching on concepts centred around memory and the mundane and banal. She is now based in The Netherlands; her current work comes from a place of pure fascination with the abstraction of the visual elements and love of painting.
